The 7-day 9th Special Olympics World Winter Games ended in Idaho on February 13, 2009. More than 2, 000 athletes from 120 countries joined together for the big event, including 53 ROK athletes participating in 6 events competition such as Speed Skating and Figure Skating.

Korean Special Olympic Team won 8 gold, 13 silver and 10 bronze medals at this winter games. The 8 gold medals consisted of 3 Speed Skating, 3 Snowboarding, 1 Alpine Skiing and 1 Snowshoeing champion.

Now SO Korea is considering to apply for the 10th Special Olympics World Winter Games in 2013.
