Special Olympics Macau Team Won 3 Gold, 2 Silver and 1 Bronze

 

The 6-day 2009 Speical Olympics World Winter Games ended on February 13rd in Boise, Idaho, USA. Special Olympics Macao sent four athletes for the speed skating competition and achieved a remarkable success with 3 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze in hands.

The four athletes were Chan Wai Meng, Lo Wai Fong, Chan Lai Nei and Kwok Oi Ieng. Following Chan Wai Meng and Lo Wai Fong won a gold and a silver respectively earlier, Chan Lai Nei defeated competitors from USA, Netherlands and Belarus in 111 meter women race and won the second gold medal. Chan Wai Meng furtherly added a bronze medal in 111 meter men race. On the last day, Kwok Oi Ieng finally concluded the wonderful sports journey with a silver in 25 meter women straightaway and a gold in 55 meter women half lap race.

No pay, no gain. The four athletes reached their summit in life through great efforts and strong adaptability. They also evidenced the great potentials of the intellecturally disabled, which could be stimulated by plenty of opportunities, and, made themselves enjoy success as same as ordinary people.
