On May 31st, 2009, Madam Wang Naikun, Vice Chairperson and Executive Vice President of China Disabled Persons' Federation (CDPF) who was newly elected as Chairperson of Special Olympics China (SOC) met with visiting Chairman of Special Olympics International Dr. Tim Shriver in Beijing.

Madam Wang extended warm welcome to Dr. Shriver. She praised SOI for its global promotion of Special Olympics and devotion to the welfare of people with intellectual disabilities. She also extended her appreciation to SOI for its long-term support to developing Special Olympics movement in China.

Dr. Shriver congratulated Madam Wang on her election as Chairperson of Special Olympics China, saying that SOI and its regional East Asia office will maintain close cooperation with CDPF and SOC to push forward the high-quality development of Special Olympics in China.

Mr. Jia Yong, Director General of CDPF Sports Department, Ms. Anna Chan, Managing Director of SO East Asia, and Mr. Wei Mengxin, Deputy Director General of CDPF International Department were also presented at the meeting.
