2008 SOEA Regional Swimming Competition

 

2008 SOEA Regional Swimming Competition was successfully completed on 11th July 2008. This event was held by Special Olympics Hong Kong, Hong Kong Sports Association for the Mentally Handicapped, and subsidized by Leisure and Cultural Services Department. It’s a great honor to have Mr. Szeto Ping Hang – Assistant Honor Secretary of Hong Kong Amateur Swimming Association to officiate the opening ceremony.

It’s the first ever time for Hong Kong to host such a large-scale regional competition in East Asia. And it’s happy to see all programs within East Asia district taking part in this competition. It’s great to have delegations from Special Olympics China - Shandong, Hunan, and Liaoning province, Special Olympics Chinese Taipei, Special Olympics Korea, and Special Olympics Macau to come to Hong Kong to partake in this meaningful competition. Together with local swimmers, the total number of athletes exceeded 500.

SO Athlete Strive forward in the competition

Besides this swimming competition, different sports competitions, such as athletic, golf, table-tennis and football will be held in different Programs of SOEA. It will be a gold opportunity for athletes from different places to meet one another. Not only would they gain competition experience, they would also develop friendship and share experience among athletes of different countries.
