Special Olympics Flame of Hope Relayed in Shanghai to Celebrate the 2009 Special Olympics World Winter Games

2008 SOEA Athlete Congress & Youth Fan Winter Camp Successfully Held in Hainan

 

On December 1 to 6, 2008, the 1st Athlete Congress & Youth Fan Winter Camp of Special Olympics East Asia region was held in Haikou, Hainan Province. The representatives at the congress included 16 Special Olympics athlete leaders, 20 youth partners and 15 mentors from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Chinese Taipei and Korea. 2008 "Boeing Cup" National Special Olympics Bocce Competition Held in Beijing

 

From December 18th to 19th 2008, more than 50 athletes, coaches and referees from Beijing, Tianjin, Fujian Province, Liaoning Province and Shaanxi Province gathered in Beijing for the 2008 "Boeing Cup" National Special Olympics Bocce Competition. The competition was organized by Special Olympics China and title-sponsored by Boeing China. Special Olympics Athletes Joined Hands with University and Corporate Volunteers at University Day in Shanghai

  

On Oct 25, 2008, over 100 student volunteers from Shanghai Normal University welcomed some special guests- 40 Special Olympics athletes from Shanghai Dongli Fengmei Kangjian School and the Changqiao Street Sunshine Home and around 30 staff volunteers and family members from the Timken Company, who took part in the half-day University Day event held by the Sports Institute of Shanghai Normal University...     More...

Hong Kong Special Olympics Athlete Karen Tam

 

Now Karen still attends the activities organized by Special Olympics Hong Kong or by her school often. She has exclaimed to learn skating since she came back from Japan. With the help of her school, she smoothly participated in the junior skating training. In February, 2008, she was awarded a gold medal and a silver medal at the 32nd Special Olympics Skating Competition. And so she was selected into the training team. On the recently issued athlete list for 2009 Special Olympics World Winter Games, Karen becomes one of the speed skating athletes. We are all very happy. Compared with the journey to Japan, it's a challenge for Karen this time to go so far away from home. However, she is believed to cope with it very well.     More...
